 DESCRIPTION:
ABRUZZO Near San Benedetto del Tronto (region Marche) which is considered to be the centre of the “Palm Riviera” have emerged other seaside resorts: Martinsicuro, Alba Adriatica, Tortoreto Lido and one of the newest, Villa Rosa. These belong to the Italian region of Abruzzo, but the atmosphere of Palm Riviera overlaps here. You can spend peaceful holiday / vacation in tranquillity here, still near the lively centres with many opportunities for entertainment. The seaside promenade fringed with palms with marked paths is ideal for those who love biking, roller-skating and jogging. You will find here many restaurants, cafes and bars too. The summer resorts of Abruzzo are ideal for spending a wonderful holiday also thanks to the pleasant climate of the central Italy.

At the seaside, the coastline of Abruzzo is varied: low and sandy shores to the north contrast with the inclined shores to the south. The "sette sorelle" (seven sisters), seven seaside resorts in the province of Teramo, from Martinsicuro to Silvi, the Pescara and the Francavilla al Mare beaches, offer high level accommodation, night-clubs, and in Pescara itself, even a modern marina. To the south the scenery changes radically: from Ortona to Vasto and as far as San Salvo, sloping shores surrounded by the rich Mediterranean vegetation appear on the coastline. They too, are well equipped for a pleasant holiday. The nostalgic fishing past emerges between San Vito and Fossacesia, where the travocchi, fishing huts built on piles, are still used by the local fishermen.

“Palm Riviera” (Riviera delle Palme) is situated in the central part of Italy, on the border of the regions Marche and Abruzzo, on the Adriatic Sea coast near San Benedetto del Tronto. The many palm trees and oleanders that grow here create an exotic atmosphere of the place. The town of San Benedetto del Tronto was founded in the 9th century B.C. Typical for this summer holiday resort are palms (more than 7 thousand), thanks to them it has a tropical character. That is why this part is called Riviera delle Palme (Palm Riviera / Palm Beach). The beach in San Benedetto del Troto is 5 km long with fine sand and gently shelving beach. The resort provides facilities for sports such as tennis courts, pools, athletic and football stadium, stadium for roller skating, bowling green, playgrounds for children. The specific character of the resort is also typical for more southern holiday resorts: Martinsicuro, Alba Adriatica, Tortoreto Lido and one of the youngest holiday centres Villa Rosa. These belong geographically to the region of Abruzzo. See also neighbouring Marche.
